Bill Sr. (now retired) started in business as a general contractor and was later joined by his two sons, Bill Jr. and Terry, to form what is now McGovern & Sons, L.L.C. We built new homes, farm buildings and did remodeling of all kinds. We slowly phased into the excavating business.

 Our company now deals mainly in earth moving projects but still do some building and remodeling as time permits. We own and operate our own equipment  and have been in business for more than 30 years. Bill Jr. and Terry are members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 965 and are veterans of 3 year enlistments in the United States Army.

 After attending training seminars provided by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, we are recognized by the NRCS office as being qualified to survey and design conservation practices and to perform a final check-out on a completed project.
