This notch in the levee was the result of a high river stage on the Illinois River. The wave action of the water erodes the levee and it needs to be repaired after the water goes down and the dirt at the bottom of the levee becomes dry enough to push back into the notch, this needs to be done to maintain the integridy of the levee.

Driving piling during construction of new grates and lower platform at pump station.

The dirt was removed behind wing wall and deteriorated planking and dead-man anchors were replaced.

The lower deck will be used as a collection area for debris that is raked off the new grates. A small end loader will be used to remove the debris to another area for disposal.
